Our poor dog

As the title suggests, our dogs are feeling the pressure of a more active Evan. I was playing with Evan in the kitchen with him in his walker today and he decided to give a go at chasing pag again. Evan has gotten CONSIDERABLY better at walking in his walker since the last video I posted. So without further adieu:

I wish I could say that the finger in the video wasn't mine, but I'm a very bad camera man and since we have a new camera I'm having a fun time figuring out just how to actually not look like a doof. He was chasing her for a while before I actually got the camera and started taping it, and he was a little more excited to get close to her. I would have tried to take some more videos, but I had to change batteries in the camera and when I came back Pag had decided it was safer to sit on the sofa in the office (the only one she's allowed to get on in the house).

Evan also got his first haircut this past week. Becky had further cemented her place as the hair stylist of us boys.

This picture shows Becky using diversionary tactics of toys and Grandma (who really is a great toy for Evan) so he'll stay happy while cutting his hair.

Who knew all we really needed was to give Evan a comb. He was thouroughly excited to play with it, and his hair looks great if you ask me. I thought it was kind of funny how Becky didn't really think anything of Evan's first hair cut, and some people think it's a huge milestone. We just thought it was getting in his way and tickling his ears.
Also have to thank my parents for taking care of Evan and the pups while we went out to Seattle for Becky's best friend Amanda's wedding. I couldn't resist putting up a picture of my dad holding on to Maggie under a blanket...notice the blanket isn't covering any piece of him, just the dog.
Evan has also become much more relaxed on his tummy lately. Perhaps a little too relaxed.
He was playing pretty hard all day and we put him on his belly and he completely crashed.

Well we're pretty well spent here so until next time.

Unable to sleep in Seattle

Thanks to Stephan's parents who were generous enough to watch Evan for us, we were able to travel to Tacoma, Washington for my best friend Amanda's wedding. Overall the trip went very well, we worked hard and slept little, had fun with a bachelorette party, and bachelor party (stephan went go cart racing), saw the space needle, and took a ferrie to bainbridge island. We were also very excited be able to see and visit with our excellent friends from Utah, Christine (amanda's wedding coordinator, and friend) and Brennan (her husband).

The day was beautiful 60 degrees and sunny! Don't they look great!

All done up for the big day!

Had the pleasure of dancing with my babe : )

We made our own bouquet, here's mine in a vase at the reception, I'm quite proud! Thank you Christine for teaching me how, and for your awesome patience with me!

Amanda and Chris with her niece and nephew, I just thought this picture was cute.

It was raining when we went to see the space needle, and they wanted 16$/person to ride the elevator up, we decided that was rediculous and took this picture from under a near by building instead.

Stephan and I on the ferrie to bainbridge with seatle in the background.

When we came home Evan had learned all sorts of new tricks from his grand parents, like walking with just fingers, not his walker, and playing patty cake. I think he had a great time with them. More videos and pictures to come.

Clappin!

Evan has been trying to clap for quite some time now, usually by holding his left hand still and then swinging the right hand up and down to hit it. Yesterday he started doing it the "right" way. You could see him really trying he'd look at his hands and with so much intention it was almost in slow motion he was CLAPPIN! He's also been waving for a while now,...haven't caught a video of that yet, but thought I'd put up the video of clapping. Evan also seems to understand the word clap, he'll usually start clapping now when we ask him to. Other words he understands, come, jump, his name, dad, mom, NO, and when I say I'm going to "git your tummy" his hands have been going to his tummy to protect it lately. Maybe I'll try to get a video of the wave before I go to work today.

New skill?

So, my loving husband was daring enough to let my try to cut his hair....all by myself! I bought a Wahl clipper at target, and that with the handy dandy instructions.....and .....welll....what do you think?

Now that we think it turned out OK?? We're flying out to be at my bestfriends wedding next week......so ......Stephan really was trusting.....or daring....depending on how you look at it, now wasn't he : ) He says it's nice to have his ears lowered again.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Hard to believe it's been a year since Evan was born. Definately a day to CELEBRATE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY BOY!!! Stephan made Evan a very nice baby sized cake with some help from my mom for the decorating, and we let him dig in. I think he enjoyed it, he only took a couple of bites, and when he did he made a sour face (I think the cake was too sweet for his tastes). He got to open a few presants and visit with family overall a good day.

Otherwise we're doing pretty good here. Evan's picking up on his eating some again, and his tummy time is improving. Yesterday he started saying Hi Dead In an attmept to say Hi Dad....(I think Stephan is still pretty tickled). He's almost started clapping he's holing one hand out in front of him and hitting it with the other, but is currently using an up and down swing instead of side to side. And yes, one of his newest skills we weren't quite sure weather or not to be proud of the fine motor skills or grossed out....he's started to pick his own nose. He had a trip to the urologist at Minneapolis Children's to have a Kidney ultrasound which showed his kidneys are still a bit bigger than they should be, but are smaller than the last time, so we're continuing with daily antibiotics to prevent urinary tract infections until they check him again in June or july of this year. He has been switched to a new antibiotic, it's supposed to be better at targeting UTI's and easier on his stomach.

Stephan has started running again, and I think both he and Paggy sue are enjoying them very much.
