Sometimes Evan is looking so grown up to me.

Then he does something like put on my mitten and it comes up to the middle of his upper arm, or threads his hand through a toilet paper roll, and it fits, and I'm reminded how little he still really is, even if he is out growing his size 6 shoes.

Hangin with his hommie.

Yes we're posing for the camera, as if he wasn't cute enough to start out, scary how well he knows how to work a crowd sometimes.

We dog sat my brother's black lab Skip this weekend, Evan LOVED him, gave him hugs, would climb on him, lay on him. Tried to ride him too. Skip would lay on the floor slightly interested in what Evan was doing but with more of an "eh" attitude. Evan would climb on and say "redy, redy, go go go" Skip did not follow Evan's requests, but he was hopeful.

Evan used to be TERRIFIED of the vacuum, shreaks, tears and running away was the standard response to it being turned on. Evidentally we're over that fear. Here's a video of Evan helping vacuum. Yes I did think about the fact that the vacuum is loud and I should have hearing protection on Evan when doing stuff like this, but unfortunately that thought entered my head AFTER filming this. He knows where the on button is, says "push, push" when he wants to vacuum, and then says "heping heping" He's big into helping lately, with helping wash when we're washing etc etc.

We've entered a stage with more melt downs, and fits when we don't get what we want or have to wait, but we also have learned to say "hep peas" when we need assistance which is FANTASTIC, who could turn the boy down! Snuggles are still my favorite, and Evan's still into it which I love, there's nothing better than him hugging in close and staying there. Did I mention I love this age? Maybe I'm feeling more lovy dovy because Evan's also in a big mommy stage right now too. All he wants is me for the last 2 weeks, which pulls at my heart strings, but causes problems too.

Never too young

I just had to post a video of Evan riding around on his trike. He was pushing it back and forth on the kitchen floor saying "Weeee!" I thought it was too cute to pass up. Thanks grandma and grandpa Gorny for the trike as a christmas present and yes Evan likes it very much.

The 6th and 7th days of Christmas

Warning, this is a long post....we've been busy this past week, and it's been fun. Stephan's family was up to our house for a Christmas celebration, we had a great time. There were sinus infections, and recent GI illnesses, teething babies, and ear infections, but you wouldn't really know it if you'd been an observer.
Evan reading books with Grandma Gorny.

Hanging ornaments on the new tree mom found on SUPER after Christmas clearance, and was bought with the generous gift card from Sand Lake Chapel....Thank you so much, your gift has given us a perfect tree for our home for years to come!

Our niece Paige, and Evan's only cousin. Isn't she gorgeous! Love you Paige : )

We went to the Duluth Aquarium for the very first time with Grandpa and Grandma. I have to say that an Aquarium that bosted having a show of all the fish that are found in Lake Superior did not sound like that much fun, but it was really cool. I haven't decided yet if it was really that cool all on it's own, or if going with a young child who thinks the place is AWESOME just makes the whole experience, doesn't really matter though I guess, we had fun whatever the reason.
Evan looking at the otter.

Otters are Cool!

There were men scuba diving in the main tank when we got there. They were cleaning the walls and feeding the fish. This scuba diver in the picture played with Evan near the window for a LONG time, and fed the fish right infront of him. Notice in the picture he's upside down right infront of Evan.... we thought it was pretty neat that he'd take time out of his day to do some tricks for Evan. As you can see Evan thought he was pretty cool too.

Touching a sting ray. Did I mention Evan LOVES water....Yep he got a boot in there while I wasn't paying CLOSE attention....fast little bugger.

Saying "Hi fishes"

New developments in eating at our house, Evan started eating WAY more solids last night. This picture is of him eating corn....corn! He didn't just take a couple of bites, we had to refill his bowl, and he was shoveling it in with his hands....no gagging, no puking, just chewing and swallowing. We think watching his cousin eat like a champ was some inspiration for him, but who knows. Right now we don't care the reason much, just happy it's happening. Today he ate, brussel sprouts, almost a whole bannana, mandrin oranges, potatos. We can't believe it. I asked Stephan if he was amazed when I called home from work today, he said "Well Yeah!, aren't you?" of course I was.

And videos:
First one is of Ring around the Rosie, one of Evan's favorite games these days. He'll grab your hands, say "ring, ring" and start in a circle, close to the 'down' part you can feel a gentle tug towards the floor from Evan, then he'll either join you, or stand and say "ashes, ashes" while tugging up on your hands....basically saying 'lets do it again'. He's also been very into his boots these past few days and is always wearing either them or his slippers around the house. I think he's pretty proud he can put them on himself. Also notice in this video that Evan stands up in the middle of the floor all by himself. That's a new skill too. Yes most children learn to stand in the middle of the floor first and then walk, but my son is not most children, and he has no sense of propper timing, so he learned to walk in september, and this week he learned to stand in the middle of the floor.....whatever : )

As you can see we had fun feeding the fish at the aquarium.....I was really surprised that he kept it up....for 3 handfuls really, and I'm pretty sure he understood what was happening....didn't think he would, guess I still don't give the kid enough credit. I woundn't have even bought the food, thinking he wouldn't have done anything, Thanks grandma and grandpa for suggesting it!

More ring around the Rosie, listen close for "ashes, ashes" and giggling : )
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year. Great things have happened in our family over the past couple of years, I expect nothing less from 2010.
